Judas 03:50
I: 1) take my socks off after work and 2) turn the temperature down 3) pull the glass out of the frame, turn the picture around 4) buy some gas to mow the yard 5) fill the tank up in my car 6) wash the dishes in the sink 7) hang the clothes up to dry 8) take the garbage to the street a) shoo away the fruit flies 9) take her clothes off in my head 10) take my clothes off 11) get in bed What feels so good could not last forever. What falls apart wasn't meant to last I: 1) turn the television on 2) turn the television down 2) cannot leave till the sun comes up 4) cannot shut it out 5) cannot get back out of bed 6) roll back over 7) sleep instead What seemed like eased never felt as clever So I washed my sheets and hung them up to dry It takes two or three times to get caught in a lie I guess I'll let it run dry, but what will you say? If your word has changed mine, that's strange, but it's fine. You'll lose a lot you couldn't see. It's just two or three nights, I won't hope for a fight. It was an honest surprise is what you say. But, I crawl in my bed and I think about it.

Brittain 04:30
In town, where I was born, I was given a name and it grew with me. There was a school where I used to learn. But, now it's gone and I've gone too. We pushed the buttons on the telephone. I held my hand if I could wait that long. Tied up my tie like clumsy freshmen tongues. We watched the window while you sang your songs alone. Your satellite is burning bright! I can't wait to show you. Your satellite burns through my life. If only you could know! Bob, we recall your name. Every night we write it down. All the words, so small in size, filled up my mind and drove me out. I watched my brother walking to your door. Waited outside on my grandmother's porch. She watched you leaving when the night went dark. She's in there watching, wondering where you are. The people, they keep dying. I've still got my friends, I haven't lost one yet. The city is filled with kids, but none of them smile. They keep their eyes on the ground.

All my doubts have sprung up anew. My fears are all coming true. Our worries, like worries do, they've come back. Where the hell are you? This is no promised land, so don't raise up your palms. This is no sacred place, so don't life up your voice to sing the songs. There is no well here, at least not like we'd thought. If you're thirsty, all of us are thirsty. You're in good company.

about

This month, we passed the milestone of 10 years as a band. We also hit six years since the release of our first record. To celebrate these milestones, we decided to try to do something a little more special this time.

Judas is a tune we've been working on for several years. This was one of the most complete songs we had at the start of the year, but we wanted to hold it for something special.

Brittain is one of two songs that we had written before recording It Can Kill that we for various reasons abandoned. Recently, I gave it a listen and thought it was pretty cool. Finishing it this month, I remembered why. This song has such a weird chorus that I always struggled to find a melody that fit. I'm still not sure I did. This recording features a new vocal track, but everything else is as we left it back in 2011. Lyrically, this song was inspired by Adam and my high school English teacher. He was a special man who meant a lot to us.

When looking at our anniversary, I decided to try to figure out something we could do with a few older tunes. We have some multitracked live shows lying around, but the task of mixing a whole show felt too much previously. So, I mixed the version of Blood Harmony that we performed at our album release show on 5/29/2012 for kicks.

As for Noel Here, if you're familiar with our last record, you may remember the song A Deserted Place in Need of Fertilizing. Recently, I picked up my guitar to try to figure out an alternate version of one of the songs from that record, and instead, felt compelled to put some new words to an old one. This is the result of that pursuit.

Thanks for sticking with us, and reading my ramblings.

We'll be taking the month of June off, but expect to hear from us again very soon.
