k, i closed my eyes, caught my breath, and tried to pray but i had nothing, so i went straight to amen james, where are you going? is it open to debate? nah, just run away out in the hall, they plate the walls with silver and gold bend their knees at the feet it feels a lot like home but if in his hands the whole earth stands, what's that in your palm? a couple dice, bright white will you watch them fall? on the train i put my head down in my hands and changed my name and pressed my legs tight to my guts to keep them safe say do you know, when it's cold, we'll all find our way and skate across that burning lake in the garden there, they're crawling on bellies rotten, with a mouthful of fallen fruit and the trees the fruit shed still hang their branches to the leaves that dance and shake hard with the good news i tried prayers for peace i prayed to open eyes i don't pray now

about

We started work on our second album immediately after the release of It Can Kill in May 2012, with the goal of releasing an EP before the end of the year. Here we are almost six years later, with nothing to show for that work but some files on our personal computers.
Work has gone slowly, but it's also been fruitful.
It is our goal to release this album this year, a few songs at a time, spread throughout the months.
This is your first taste of our second album.
Each month, we will be releasing two new songs. Some of these date all the way back to 2012, some will be written the month they are released.
By the end of 2018, we will have compiled the best of these tracks into the definitive version of our second album. The extras will only have been available as part of these monthly releases.
We're excited, and we hope you enjoy coming alongside us during this journey.

"When you skate through your life unscathed, you accumulate hubris. And it takes a lot of hubris to make an album like Life is Weird."

“Life is Weird, while certainly not 2018’s worst album, is further evidence that YEARS is far from the pop music innovator they once were”

“Life is Weird is a misstep large enough to merit relitigating YEARS’ status as pop superstars. How much of their career should we chalk up to fortune, privilege, and an essential malleability?”
